AKIPRESS.COM - At a press conference on April 8, Bishkek City Police Department Chief, Bakyt Matmusaev, apologized to the relatives of Aizada Kanatbekova, who was kidnapped and murdered.
"I apologize to the relatives and friends of Aizada. I feel all the pain the parents are going through now," he said.
Police officers did not stop searching for Aizada when she was kidnapped in Bishkek in the morning of April 5, he said.
Two days later her body and that of her kidnapper were found inside the car in the mountains, he said.
He said he is against the bride kidnapping.
The 27-year-old Aizada was kidnapped by several men on April 5 and was found dead two days later with one of them both dead in the car. The 36-year-old man strangled her to death and then reportedly committed suicide.
Abduction leading to murder of Aizada Kanatbekova sparked a nationwide outcry. Activists plan to hold a peaceful rally outside the Interior Ministry in Bishkek against violence against women.
