AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev met with the members of the observer mission from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly who came to Bishkek to monitor the preparation and conduct of the local elections and referendum on draft Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic on April 11 this year. Kazakbaev briefed on the preparation for the upcoming voting. He expressed confidence that international observers would give a comprehensive and objective assessment of the results of the elections and referendum.
Kazakbaev notified about the work carried out on accreditation of 183 international observers from 31 countries of the world, including those representing 10 international organizations, as well as more than 20 representatives of the media.
Kazakbaev drew the attention of the interlocutors to the fact that the Kyrgyz Republic offered the Venice Commission and other international experts to hold open constructive discussions on the draft Constitution of Kyrgyzstan.
In turn, the observers noted the high level of readiness and effective work done during the organization of the election campaign. The members of the mission stressed that according to the results of the upcoming events, the monitoring group will provide the public with objective information.
Touching upon the issue of the country's participation in the CSTO, the Foreign Minister noted that the Kyrgyz side is ready to continue to work on increasing the effectiveness and potential of the Organization for a possible prompt response and anticipating challenges and threats.
