Silence day observed in Kyrgyzstan ahead of local elections and referendum on constitutional changes

AKIPRESS.COM - The silence day began from 8:00 a.m. on April 10 in Kyrgyzstan before the local council elections. Together with the local elections, the country will hold a referendum on the draft Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic.
On this day campaigning, public calls and mass events urging to participate or not to participate in the elections are prohibited by law.
The total number of candidates on the registered 237 lists is 11,782.
25 parties are running for the seats in the Bishkek city council.
Local council elections and a constitutional referendum will be held on April 11 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
