AKIPRESS.COM - 28 houses in Chauvai village, Kadamjai district live in landslide prone area and require urgent resettlement, authorities said. In spring and summer months it rains frequently making life in the area dangerous. It was decided by the Kadamjay district department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic and the local authorities that all families in the area should be resettled by April 20.
So far 10 tents in the village were installed. According to Aidarbek Alimberdiev, a senior officer of the district department of emergency situations, the resettlement is done annually.
Abdyrazak Bakirov, head of Chauvai village municipality, said that a landslide of 1994 damaged 28 households. The state issued them loans and they built houses, but the children grew up and due to the lack of a homestead plot, they returned to the dangerous area. There is not enough land for homestead plot here.
When the tents are fully installed, 28 families will be relocated.
