Kyrgyzstan declined grain production from 1.7m tons to 700k tons

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan used to produce 1.7 million tons of grain and covered its demand in all necessary products, however today production declined to 700 thousand tons of grain, said Minister of Agriculture Askarbek Janybekov at the presentation of the "development priorities of the agro-industrial complex" on April 27. Agriculture in Kyrgyzstan was one of the most productive, he said.
"We covered our own demand in sugar, vegetable oil, potatoes and other products. But today we can't boast such results," Janybekov said.
Kyrgyzstan exports 300,000 tons of grain and 95,000 tons of sugar per year today. Production of vegetable oil reaches 15% of the total demand, white sugar - 56%.
