AKIPRESS.COM - MP Urmatbek Samaev raised the issue of roads in Kyrgyzstan at the parliamentary session on April 28. Newly built roads do not even last for 5 years, he said asking why so.
"The roads that were built during the Soviet era are still in service, and why don't the new roads hold up?" he asked.
Nurlanbek Kayinbayev, deputy transport minister, replied that since 1995, the number of vehicles has risen tenfold.
What capacity the new roads are designed for, and what capacity the old roads were designed for, the MP asked.
"The old roads can withstand 6-8 tons, the new roads can 11 tons," he added.
