AKIPRESS.COM - A work meeting of representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan was held, the Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan said.
The delegation of Kyrgyzstan included Batken region governor Omurbek Suvanaliev, Border Service Commander Ularbek Sharsheyev, First Deputy Interior Minister Suyunbek Omurzakov, State National Security Committee Vice Chairman Aibek Shamenov.
The delegation of Tajikistan included State National Security Committee Chairman Saimumin Yatimov, Border Troops Commander Rajabali Rahmonali, Sughd region governor Rajabboi Ahmadzoda.
Building upon good neighborly relations and earlier undertaken interstate obligations, the sides reached agreement on the following issues:
1. To cease gunfire in border areas of Batken region of Kyrgyzstan and Sughd region of Tajikistan since 7.30 p.m. of April 29 Bishkek time (since 6.30 p.m. Dushanbe time);
2. To remove troops and military equipment and vehicles from border areas of Batken region and Sughd region to their duty stations;
3. To continue the negotiation process on stabilization of the situation in border areas of Batken region and Sughd region;
4. To set up a working group comprised of representatives of law enforcement agencies and executive power to adopt measures and create conditions for further productive negotiation process in the interest of two fraternal nations and states.
The joint statement was adopted and the protocol was signed following the talks.
