AKIPRESS.COM - The delegations of the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan held border delimitation and demarcation talks on May 1 in Batken region.
Following the talks, Tajik National Security Committee Chairman Saimumin Yatimov said they gathered to address all arising problems and disputes.
"Today we held a productive discussion initiated by our heads of state. The tragedy that happened in the border areas should not recur again. Our people live on that land for a long period in history. People are very amicable, they do not have any claims. We, politicians, should address all issues in line with the law and let our people live in peace and friendship. Today we have reached principled agreement on establishment of peace, stability on Kyrgyz and Tajik soil. I am convinced we can make it. We will resolve all problems in the nearest time and our people will live in friendship and mutual understanding as always and stability will be ensured," Saimumin Yatimov said.
State National Security Committee Chairman Kamchibek Tashiev said the protocol of four paragraphs was adopted at the meeting of delegations in interests of two countries.
"People of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have very difficult time now, crisis. The tragedy occured in two countries. It was very hard for us to meet and work in this time. Yet, as intructed by the heads of our states we held a meeting and reached agreement on full cease of fire, withdrawal of troops from the border to their duty stations. Hopefully, silence and peace in our countries will restore since today, especially in border areas. We hope the decisions stipulated in the protocol will be implemented," Tashiev said.
