UN welcomes agreement on ceasefire between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, ready to provide assistance

AKIPRESS.COM - Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to UN in New York Ambassador Mirgul Moldoisaeva met with Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Miroslav Jenca on April 30, the Foreign Ministry said.
Ambassador Moldoisaev briefed Miroslav Jenca about the current situation in border areas of Kyrgyzstan. She said the agreement was reached between the sides on ceasefire and regulation of the situaiton through talks.
Kyrgyzstan stays committed to international and bilateral obligations and agreements, she said.
Mirgul Moldoisaeva asked UN to consider possible assistance for displaced people, restoration of destroyed facilities.
Miroslav Jenca said UN closely follows the situation on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and welcomes the achieved agreement on ceasefire.
He said UN stands ready to provide assistance to those affected by the conflict, including through UN Peacebuilding Fund projects.
