AKIPRESS.COM - The General Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan released a statement in the evening of May 3 concerning start of investigation into the Kyrgyz-Tajik border conflict. "The conflict occurred between residents of Batken district of Tajik citizens on April 29 at around 4.40 a.m. in Kocho-Boyu area of Kok-Tash village, Batken district, which was provoked by the Tajik side.
Tajikistan then violated the agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan on good neighborly and partership relations of 26 May 2004, principles of peaceful co-existence, friendship and good neighborhood when its troops intruded into Kyrgyzstan with the purpose of takeover of sovereign territory of Kyrgyzstan, breaching sovereignty and integrity of Kyrgyzstan. The borders of the Kyrgyz Republic were attacked without any claims put forward in advance, through mass killing of civilians and servicemen defending the state border and officers of law enforcement agencies defending safety of civilians, with fire opened from automatic weapons, mortars, armored vehicles, attack helicopters and other armament.
Tajik troops then attacked Bulak Bashi, Kapchigai, Dostuk, Min-Bulak, Kojojar, Kyzyl-Bel border outposts and settlements in Batken and Leilek districts with use of mortars and attack helicopters and captured the territory and settlements of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The armed attack by Tajik troops resulted in gunshot and shell fragment wounds of many Kyrgyzstanis, law enforcers, servicemen and civilians among them. Some of them died. Lots of houses and military facilities were damaged and destroyed.
The above actions of servicemen of Tajikistan speak of earlier planned provocation and aggression against sovereignty and integrity of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Planning, preparation of armed aggression, participation in aggression and conduct of aggressive war in violation of international treaties and agreements are seen in the actions of servicemen of Tajikistan.
