AKIPRESS.COM - Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev met with UN Resident Coordinator Ozonnia Ojielo on May 3, the Foeign Ministry's press service said.
Minister Kazakbaev outlined the current situation in the conflict zone on Kyrgyz-Tajik border in Batken region.
The death toll of Kyrgyzstan as a result of the conflict reached 36, 3 servicemen among them and the rest are civilians. Around 180 were wounded and over 30,000 were displaced. Houses and social facilities were destroyed, the Minister said.
"Citizens of Kyrgyzstan affected by the conflict need humanitarian assistance and support for reconstruction of their houses, damaged social facilities and infrastructure," Minister Kazakbaev said.
Minister Kazakbaev said he held a phone conversation with Head of Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Natalia Gherman on May 30, Envoy of Kyrgyzstan to UN in New York Mirgul Moldoisaeva met with Assistant Secretary-General for Europe and Central Asia Miroslav Jenca.
Ruslan Kazakbaev said both expressed readiness of UN agencies to provide support for post-conflict reconstruction of Batken region.

The sides agreed to continue a regular dialogue for the purpose of coordination of actions for resolution of problems arisen from the Kyrgyz-Tajik border conflict.
Tensions on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan escalated on April 28-29 and exchange of fire occurred between troops of two sides. 36 Kyrgyz citizens died, including a 4-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl. At least 180 Kyrgyzstanis were injured. Some 33,388 people were displaced from the villages in Batken region, 19,142 children among them. 104 houses, 10 gas stations, 1 kindergarten, 3 border outposts were burnt.
