AKIPRESS.COM - The meeting of the governmental delegations of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan for delimitation and demarcation of the state border was held in Batken on May 1-2, Khovar news agency reported. The views were exchanged on urgent measures aimed to regulate the situation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border, resumption and intensification of work of the joint commission.
The sides agreed to use the documents and materials of territorial division of 1924-1927 and the parity commission of 1989 for delineation of the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan from the border point 43 to the border point 61, from border point 135 to border point 141.
Topographic working groups were tasked to delimit the draft border on the above border points from May 5 to 9.
The working groups will begin topographic works and delimitation of the draft borderline in Ovchi Kalacha area of Bobojon Gafurov district, Chorkukh, Somoniyon, Hojai A'lo of Isfara of Sughd region of Tajikistan and Maksat, Kulundu of Leilek district and Koktosh, Kokterek, Aksai of Batken district of Kyrgyzstan until May 17.
The agreement was reached that until completion of the process of delimitation, demarcation and legal formalization of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border, the sides will build together and the Tajik side will use and maintain Hojai A'lo-Vorukh road. The status of this road will be defined by a separate agreement between two countries.
To expedite start of construction of this road, the topographic working groups together with designing institutions will conduct field survey of the area in Batken district before June 1.
The sides agreed to start delimitation of the borderline in Vorukh after completion of construction of Hojai A'lo-Vorukh road.
The countries agreed the next border talks will be held in Tajikistan.
