AKIPRESS.COM - Mederbek Kamchiev from Batken town died during an armed conflict at the Golovnoy water distribution facility. He was only 26, his relatives said. He worked in one of the town's butcher pavilions.
"When he heard about the conflict on the border, he immediately went with his friends to Golovnoy to defend his homeland. Before his death, he shot a video of a gunfire exchange. He died from mortar shelling. We couldn't get his body for a day, the next day his body was delivered to the morgue in an ambulance car. We buried him in his hometown of Batken on April 30," relatives said.
Mederbek studied at a madrassa, he was an honest and kind man. He was always there to help.
He was married and had two small daughters (1 and 3 year olds).
On April 28, the Tajik side illegally installed video surveillance cameras on the Golovnoy water distributor of Kyrgyzstan, which was opposed by the Kyrgyz side. Kyrgyz nationals demanded to remove cameras, as a result a conflict escalated into a gunfire exchange. Over 25 Kyrgyzstanis were found dead near Golovnoy after mortar shelling by Tajik troops of Ak-Sai rural district of the Batken region. A criminal probe was launched into the massacre.
At least 36 Kyrgyz citizens were killed in armed attack.
