AKIPRESS.COM - Buuvahan Kadyrkanov, a head of local Muslim community of the village of Borborduk, was wounded during Kyrgyz-Tajik armed conflict, he told Turmush.
The imam described his village as one of the most remote in the Leilek district. It has an asphalt road dividing Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
"Distance from the village of Arka to the city of Isfana is 80 km, to the regional center Batken - 100 km. We go to Tajikistan for food and other necessities," says the imam.
Kadyrkanov said he suffered a leg wound in two spots. "That day I was driving a car along the village canal located on our territory. I don't know what kind of gun was used, but the bullets penetrated the back of the car and hit me in the leg. I was driving. I immediately turned and drove back. I was then hospitalized in Kulundu and later I was taken to Isfana," he said.
Kadyrkanov has been an imam for 13 years in the villages Borborduk and Arka-1.
On April 28, the Tajik side illegally installed video surveillance cameras on the Golovnoy water distributor of Kyrgyzstan, which was opposed by the Kyrgyz side. Kyrgyz nationals demanded to remove cameras, as a result a conflict escalated into a gunfire exchange.
Over 25 Kyrgyzstanis were found dead near Golovnoy after mortar shelling by Tajik troops of Ak-Sai rural district of the Batken region. A criminal probe was launched into the massacre.
At least 36 Kyrgyz citizens were killed in armed attack.
