AKIPRESS.COM - Prisoners in Turkmenistan die of diseases and malnutrition, turkmen.news reported. Some prisons lack bread for several days.
Prisoners may received food products from their relatives. But food products from relatives were not accepted since early March 2020 due to coronavirus pandemic despite the Turkmen authorities have not registered a single coronavirus case in the country. The food delivery practice from relatives was resumed since the beginning of April.
Visits to prisons for family members remain prohibited since spring 2020.
"Stores in prisons are empty. Meals were always poor," a mother of a prisoner told turkmen.news.
"I talked to my son recently. He says everything is bad: there is neither food, nor medical assistance. People die," the woman said.
