AKIPRESS.COM - Germany handed overe reagents for detection of COVID-19 variants circulating in Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Health and Social Development reported.
Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev met with Ambassador of Germany Monica Iversen, international experts from Germany and Russia on May 14.
The joint medical mission of Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Martsinovsky Institute of Medical Parasitology and Tropical Medicine and German Society for International Cooperation arrived in Kyrgyzstan on May 10 with German financial assistance.
Specialists provide support to laboratories of Kyrgyzstan training them to detect variants of COVID-19. The mission cooperates with the National Reference Laboratiry, which will receive support in sequencing and analysis of coronavirus.
Reagents provided by the mission for sequencing of coronavirus variants will allow to detect strains circulating in Kyrgyzstan.
Foreign specialists will also deliver training for laboratory workers in Bishkek and Osh on diagnostics and biosecurity.
50,000 PCR test systems were handed over to laboratories for diagnostics of coronavirus infection.
Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev thanked the German Ambassador and international experts for support of laboratory service of health care sector of Kyrgyzstan.
