World Bank provides $239 million soft loan for rehabilitation of water supply and sanitation in Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM - The World Bank provides $239 million concessional loan and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs provides $7.8 million grant for financing of the Water Services and Institutional Support Project in Uzbekistan.
The financial and grant agreements were signed on May 17 in Tashkent.
More than 500,000 people in three regions of Uzbekistan will benefit from better water supply and sanitation services.
The project will help improve infrastructure for sewerage collection and treatment in the towns of Nukus, Takhiatash, and Khodjeyli, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. It will also finance the development and reconstruction of water supply and sanitation systems in Syrdarya region and Kattakurgan town of Samarkand region.
The $50 million financial agreement on modernization of national innovation system in Uzbekistan was signed. The World Bank provides $50 million concessional loan for the project.
