AKIPRESS.COM - Acting mayor of Bishkek Baktybek Kudaibergenov apologized for the current situation with public transport and difficulties with traffic movement in the city. On his Faceebook post, he said has repeatedly held meetings with representatives of transport companies, and all parties were willing to negotiate.
"I cannot and do not have the right to personally decide the issue of raising fares without the consent of the citizens. I am a supporter of open and clear rules establishing fair fares for public transport. This issue will never be resolved through ultimatum and blackmail," he wrote.
To solve the problem, buses from Manas airport and the President's Administration are being used.
On June 2-3, minibus drivers in Bishkek went on strike and did not come to work. As a result, the city faced transport chaos with all trolleybuses and buses being overcrowded.
