National Security Committee Chairman Tashiev heads to Alay district amid escalation of tension on Kyrgyz-Tajik border

AKIPRESS.COM - State National Security Committee Chairman Kamchibek Tashiev left for Chon Alay district for regulation of the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. Kamchibek Tashiev is accompanied by Cabinet's Special Representative for Border Issues Nazirbek Borubaev and State Land Resources Agency Director Abdulat Myrzaev.
Kamchibek Tashiev is chairman of the delegation for delimitation and demarcation of Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
"Military personnel of Tajikistan violated all previously reached agreements on prohibition of any works in undefined border zones untli completion of delimitation and demarcation of Kyrgyz-Tajik border. At 3.00 a.m. of June 4 they intruded 1,000 m into the territory of Kyrgyzstan and put up a container in Unzhu-Bulak undefined border area in Chon Alay district of Osh region," the Kyrgyz government's press service reported.
"The Tajik side breached all previously reached agreements and escalated situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, which does not correspond to good neighborly and friendly relations," said the report.
