Babanov's arrest upheld by Bishkek city court

AKIPRESS.COM - Bishkek city court upheld June 22 the decision of Pervomaisky district court of Bishkek dated June 2 to arrest ex-PM Omurbek Babanov.
Appeal of the lawyer Amantur Abdyrakhmanov to change Babanov's arrest into house detention was denied.
The Pervomaisky district court earlier decided that to take Babanov into custody in the GKNB detention facility until July 31, 2021.
Babanov was detained on May 31 on suspicion of corruption as part of the criminal probe looking into corruption at different stages of the Kumtor mine development.
On June 2, Pervomai district court of Bishkek ruled to arrest Babanov for 2 months until July 31.
