Russia concerned about tension on Tajik-Afghan border

AKIPRESS.COM - Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said the situation in Afghanistan and on the Tajik-Afghan border is followed by Russia.
"On the whole, development of situation in Afghanistan amid withdrawal of U.S. and other troops from this country is the reason of our close attention and concern. This is a state close to us and we are concerned about the situation," Peskov told reporters.
Taliban fighters captured the key district in Kunduz Province bordering with Tajikistan on Monday.
The Border Troops of Tajikistan said later 134 servicemen of Afghan government forces had to retreat into Tajikistan. The situation on the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan remains tense.
