Kyrgyz Economy and Finance Minister suggests introduction of state of emergency amid spike in COVID-19 cases

AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Economy and Finances Akylbek Japarov suggested introduction of state of emergency at today's Kyrgyz government meeting on COVID-19 situation.
He said the plane should be sent to any part of the world to airlift vaccines to Kyrgyzstan within 10 days. Such task should be given to the Minister of Emergency Situations, he said.
"We need to include voluntary-compulsory mechanisms. If healthcare system is unable to conduct vaccination, who will do that? I have not heard the figure how many doctors and nurses were vaccinated. Our doctors catch COVID-19. We need to tell the rest - army, police and our 368,000 workers that they will not receive salaries if they do not get vaccinated. I do ask to support my suggestions. We need to declare the state of emergency," Minister Japarov said.
The Ministry of Energy and Industry should be responsible for oxygen concentrators, cold chain for vaccines, he added.
"The Ministry of Health can't be responsible for everything. Refrigerators are needed for vaccines that will be brought to the country. We should complete these preparations within 20 days," Minister Japarov said.
