Tajikistan to receive $25 million grant from ADB for coronavirus vaccines

AKIPRESS.COM - The Asian Development Bank will provide a $25 million grant to Tajikistan through Asia Pacific Vaccine Access Facility, Finance Minister Faiziddin Kahhorzoda said in the lower chamber of the Parliament of Tajikistan. "The total cost of the project makes $26.8 million, incuding $25 million grant and $1.8 million co-financing by Tajikistan," the Finance Minister said.
The project started this year and will end in 2023. It will support purchase of 3.4 million doses of coronavirus vaccines, storage containers, syringes.
The World Bank said earlier $8.63 million grant will be provided for vaccination of priority groups of population in Tajikistan.
300,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine developed by Sinovac Research & Development Co Ltd arrived in Tajikistan on June 20. These doses were donated by China.
Tajikistan received 192,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine through COVAX program earlier.
According to the Ministry of Health, over 205,000 were vaccinated against COVID-19 in Tajikistan.
