Rahmon and Putin discuss assistance for Tajikistan amid escalation of tensions in Afghanistan

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a phone conversation with President Vladimir Putin.
The two leaders discussed relevant international and regional issues, abrupt deterioration of military and political situation in Afghanistan, including the situation in northern and north-eastern provinces of Afghanistan bordering with Tajikistan and other Central Asian states.
The Presidents undescored importance of ramped up cooperation between line agencies.
They said the Tajik-Afghan section of the border is of a strategic importance for security of the CIS and Collective Security Treaty Organization region.
Reinforcement of the Tajik-Afghan border, technical assistance and supplies for border troops of Tajikistan were considered.
The sides vowed to further bolster bilaral strategic partnership ties.
