Tajikistan to send 20,000 army reservists to border with Afghanistan

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has instructed the Defense Minister to mobilize 20,000 army reservists for reinforcement of the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan. The President ordered members of the Security Council, heads of defense and law enforcement agencies to adopt concrete measures to ensure safety of the state and national on the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
The President ordered to step up protection of the state border and to deploy additional troops to necessary areas.
Rahmon ordered to pay a particular attention to prevention of crimes on the state border, including prevention of transboundary crime, terrorism, extremism, illicit drug trafficking.
