Delta variant of COVID-19 not registered in Kyrgyzstan yet - Prof. Kasymov

AKIPRESS.COM - Delta variant of COVID-19 was not detected in Kyrgyzstan, Director of Research and Production Association Preventive Medicine Prof. Omor Kasymov told a briefing.
Delta variant remains the most dangerous for people among all registered COVID-19 variants, he said.
According to the Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Department, Delta variant was not registered in Kyrgyzstan yet. 85.7% of coronavirus cases were caused by UK variant and 14.2% by South Africa variant.
Vaccination is the most effective way of protection from COVID-19 and milder symptoms in case of infection.
Around 130,000 were vaccinated in Kyrgyzstan in total, which is around 2.2% of country population.
Minister of Health and Social Development Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said earlier Kyrgyzstan has all variants of COVID-19, Delta among them.
