AKIPRESS.COM - The World Bank plans to provide $10 million loan and $10 million grant to Kyrgyzstan as additional financing of COVID-19 Response Project. Sinopharm vaccine will be purchased for these funds, Minister of Health and Social Protection Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said in Parliament.
Only 7 vaccines were approved by the World Health Organization, Sinopharm is one of them, he said.
Kyrgyzstan has decided to purchase Sinopharm vaccine as it was approved by WHO, it is effective, it is stored at +2...+8°C, he said.
Also, after the talks held between the governments of Kyrgyzstan and China, vaccine is purchased at a cheap price, the Minister added.
"We are analyzing effectiveness of vaccines and the most effective vaccine is Moderna. We are holding talks with the World Bank now on possible purchase of Moderna vaccine. We will buy either Sinopharm or Moderna," Health Minister Beishenaliev said.
