AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan held talks in Tashkent on July 15, the president's press service reported.
"Pakistan is our reliable partner. Relations between our states draw on mutual respect and trust. Today we will boost them to a level of strategic cooperation. Despite a current difficult situation, our cooperation is developing dynamically. We are interested in further expansion of ties in all areas," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
A special attention was paid to strengthening of political dialogue and expansion of commercial and economic cooperation, especially in the sphere of investments, implementation of major regional and infrastructure projects.
It was underscored Uzbekistan and Pakistan, as close neighbors of Afghanistan, are interested in bringing peace and stability to this country, which will facilitate formation of transport routes, rapid development of trade and economic ties in the region.
The sides discussed expansion of bilateral trade, launch of freight air transportation, reciprocal granting prferences and privileges.
Regional security, strengthening of military and technical cooperation were considered during the talks.
Prime Minister Imran Khan invited President Mirziyoyev to visit Pakistan.
