Presidential election campaign starts in Uzbekistan

AKIPRESS.COM - The presidential election campaign has started on July 23 in Uzbekistan.
The Central Election Commission will offically open its press center.
The presidential elections were set for October 24 in Uzbekistan.
The previous presidential elections were held ahead of term on December 4, 2016 after first President Islam Karimov died. Four candidates of political parties ran in the elections. Incumbent President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had landslide victory in the elections with 88.61% votes. He was nominated by the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan. The President is elected for a 5-year term.
Election campaign should start at least 3 months ahead of the day of vote. Neither President Mirziyoyev, nor registered political parties nominated candidates.
The Central Election Commission will allocate 300 billion soums (over $28 million) for presidential elections.
