AKIPRESS.COM - The investigation service of the Interior Ministry of Kyrgyzstan accuses ex-President Almazbek Atambayev of mass disorders at Ala-Too square on October 9, 2020, his lawyer Zamir Jooshev said.
The investigation said Atambayev colluded with Omurbek Babanov, Farid Niyazov, Temirlan Sultanbekov, Kanat Sagymbaev and others and agreed to gather a crowd near the Media Forum and to arrive at Ala-Too square with the purpose of seizure of power.
At the square, Almazbek Atambayev prompted the crowd for aggression that led to mass fights at the square with use of weapon, stones, fragments of pavement, the investigation service claims.
Zamir Jooshev said he filed a petition to the main investigation department of the Interior Ministry asking for interrogation of Babanov and Tekebaev, to strip ex-President Sooronbai Jeenbekov of immunity necessary for investigation procedures with his involvement. "However, the investigation group hasn't done anything," the lawyer said.
