Turkmen weightlifter wins silver at Tokyo Olympic Games

AKIPRESS.COM - Turkmen weightlifter Polina Guryeva has won a silver medal at Tokyo Olympic Games. This is the first Olympic medal in history of independent Turkmenistan. In -59kg category Guryeva lifted 217 kg in snatch and jerk (96 kg + 121 kg).
The gold was won by Taiwanese athlete Kuo Hsing-Chun with the result of 236 kg.
The bronze was won by Japanese wightlifter Andoh Mikiko with the result of 214 kg.
Nine athletes from Turkmenistan contest in Tokyo Olympic Games. The Turkmen delegation is led by Turkmen President's son, Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
