Work on uranium field in Issyk-Kul Oblast suspended

Bishkek, Apr. 25, 2019/ Kabar /. The State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCIESU) revoked the license from the YurAsia company for geological exploration of uranium in Kyzyl-Ompol area, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubatbek Boronov told today at a meeting with residents of Balykchi town in Issyk-Kul oblast.
He said that thus, all the work of the company in the field will be considered illegal. "Work on the uranium deposit has been suspended. Now the YurAsia company does not even conduct intelligence work. The State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use revoked the license from the company. Now they have no right to carry out any work there at all," said the First Deputy Prime Minister.
"I never repeated my words and did not refuse them. If I give up my words, I will leave my post. The fact that the license has been revoked from YurAsia is true, and we will provide you with an official document," he said in response to civil society activists who believe that he may refuse his words tomorrow.
The First Deputy Prime Minister called on the people not to organize unauthorized protest actions after Apr. 29 in order not to harm the upcoming summer tourist season.
