AKIPRESS.COM - Two climbers are missing in the Issyk-Kul region, the district department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said. Two climbers were reportedly climbing one of the peaks in the region. Both climbers from Iran went missing two days ago. The missing person report was received by the Ministry of Emergency Situations at approximately 16:30 on August 8 from the Iranian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan.
It is assumed that the tourists might fall off a mountain slope. A helicopter from Iran was brought in to search and rescue them, but so far no result was achieved.
Mehri Jafari, a lone climber from Iran, is one of the missing persons. She wrote on her social media page that she had flown from London to Bishkek and then arrived at the base camp of Victory Peak (7439m). She stayed in the Karkyra valley for two days.
