Training of Kyrgyz specialists for penitentiary system discussed in Russia

Bishkek, May 15, 2019. /Kabar/. A delegation of Kyrgyzstan led by Chairman of the State Service for Punishments Execution (SSPE) of Kyrgyzstan Melis Turganbaev paid an official visit to the Federal Service for Punishments Execution of Russia, the press service of the SSPE of Kyrgyzstan reported.
During the meeting on May 14 the sides discussed topics for strengthening bilateral cooperation, as well as cooperation in resolving specific issues, such as:
- training specialists for the penitentiary system;
- modernization of the security and safety system with modern means of technology and electronic monitoring in the institutions that execute punishment;
- providing logistical and other assistance;
- exchange of scientific and technical information.
"We have set ourselves big tasks for transferring the detention units and correctional institutions beyond the boundaries of Bishkek, Jalal-Abad and Osh cities. But the construction of prisons is not an easy task, and in this matter we hope for a lot of experience and support from the Russian side, first of all, in the form of assistance from specialists in design, architectural, engineering and construction works," Turganbaev said during his speech.
Turganbaev noted the importance of close interaction and cooperation between the services, the head of the Kyrgyz SSPE offered to consider the possibility of providing budget places (quotas) for training citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Academy of the Federal Service for Punishments Execution of Russia, as well as short-term retraining of employees of the SSPE of the Kyrgyz Republic
