AKIPRESS.COM - Mongolia has launched a national campaign to raise people's awareness about sexually transmitted infections (STIs), Xinhua reported citing the country's Health Ministry. During the two-week campaign starting Thursday, the organizers will provide people with information about infections such as syphilis, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis and HIV through both traditional and social media, in a bid to improve people's knowledge and awareness about how to prevent STIs, the ministry said.
The national campaign under the motto "Let's protect loved ones together" is co-organized by the Mongolian Health Ministry and National Center for Communicable Disease (NCCD).
There were more than 16,000 cases of STIs reported in the country in 2018, up 5 percent from the previous year, the NCCD said in a statement, adding that more than 76 percent of the people with STIs were aged between 15 and 34.
