President receives Foreign Ministers of SCO member states

Bishkek, May 22, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov today, on May 22 met with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states who arrived in Kyrgyzstan to participate in the meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers.
A large package of documents is on the agenda, one of the most important items - the preparation for the Bishkek SCO Summit, the press service of the President reported.
The Head of state noted that today the SCO has been established as a unique international association for interaction and development of cooperation mechanisms in various spheres. The "Shanghai spirit" has been firmly established in the relations.
"This is not just a declaration, but a functioning principle of mutual trust, equality and respect. The Kyrgyz side regards multilateral cooperation within the SCO as one of the priority areas of its foreign policy. We are ready to further strengthen cooperation in the political sphere, increase security, activate the trade, economic and cultural-humanitarian component of the SCO," Jeenbekov said.
The President noted that Kyrgyzstan focused its efforts on the development of a practical component of the partnership during its chairmanship of the Organization. These are the spheres of politics, economics, security, cultural and humanitarian relations, as well as the promotion of inter-parliamentary cooperation. Ministerial and expert level meetings were held both in Kyrgyzstan and other the SCO member states.
The Kyrgyz leader listed the events that have taken place in the country in recent months. These are meetings of Secretaries of the Security Councils, Defense Ministers, Heads of anti-drug agencies of the SCO member states. A Business forum was held in Bishkek to strengthen the economic component of the SCO. In order to promote friendship and cultural integration of peoples, the International SCO Marathon "Run the Silk Road" was held on the shore of Issyk-Kul lake. The SCO Women's Forum has been held and the SCO Media Forum is expected to be held.
State Councilor, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov, Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, Kazakh Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Mahdoom Shah Mahdoom Qureshi, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirodjidin Mukhriddin, Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov spoke at the meeting.
The ministers noted the great work done by Kyrgyzstan in the framework of its presidency in the SCO and expressed confidence that the forthcoming the Bishkek SCO Summit will strengthen interaction between the countries and give a new impetus to multilateral cooperation in all spheres.
At the end of the meeting, Jeenbekov thanked for the full assistance and support of the Kyrgyz side during the presidency in the SCO, conveyed warm wishes to the heads of state and wished them further success.
