Osh, June 3, 2019 /Kabar/. Local residents of Kadamjay region of southern Kyrgyzstan, with the assistance of local authorities and at the initiative of the akim (the head of a local government), started to breed again the larvae of butterflies of silkworms and get profit from the cocoon of silkworm butterfly.
Local authorities purchased larvae of raw materials in Fergana Oblast of Uzbekistan and distributed to local residents who wanted to breed them. Thus, within a month, local residents received their first harvest, which was exported to Uzbekistan at 140-150 soms per 1 kg.
Akim Janybek Isakov said that they will continue to develop this industry. "The silk we have obtained is of better quality because our climatic conditions are more favorable for these insects. Local residents have begun to make significant profits from the cultivation of silkworm butterflies. A total of about 2 tones of product will be exported to Uzbekistan," he said.
Local residents plan to increase the breeding of these insects to make even more profit.
