Lawmaker says people's opinion matter in ex-president's immunity case

AKIPRESS.COM - Stripping ex-president of their immunity is easy, but the people's opinion should also matter, said MP Karamat Orozova during the parliament session on Thursday.
Parliament is considering draft resolution on stripping ex-President Almazbek Atambayev of his status for his indictment.
MP Karamat Orozova called the Prosecutor General Otkurbek Jamshitov to make a fair decision and reminded the faith of previous Prosecutor General, who were jailed and prosecuted.
"It's been a year and a half that Atambayev left the post of President. You've said a lot of flattering words, there was a proposal to name the North-South Alternate Road Corridor after Atambayev. He was called a father of the nation. You praised him and received state awards from him. For 6 years, he has done a lot for ordinary people," said MP Orozova adding that the roads were built, salaries were raised, houses for state employees were provided, and much more.
