Bishkek, June 26, 2019. /Kabar/. The number of drowned sharply has increased this year, Kalys Akhmatov, the Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He noted there are already a large number of drowned before the bathing season began.
"For example, there were 37 drowning last year, and this year their number increased to 51. The reason is the increase in the number of people swimming in prohibited places. There are a lot of people who have drowned in the mountains," he said.
Besides, the deputy emergency minister said that work is being done to close the open bathing areas throughout the country. In total, eight facilities have been closed today.
Deputy Minister Akhmatov also added in 2019 the number of fires has decreased.
According to his data, since the beginning of 2019, 1,403 fires have been registered, while 1,646 fires occurred in the same period of 2018.
"29 people were rescued in fires, 25 died this year," he added.
"This year, there were no recorded cases of fire in shopping malls, as last year. We inspect all markets for fire safety together with the State Inspectorate for Environmental and Technical Safety," Kalys Akhmatov informed.
