President’s Office of Mongolia offers ex-president to give testimony into corruption case

AKIPRESS.COM - Chief of Staff of the President's Office of Mongolia Zandaakhüügiin Enkhbold called on former president Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj to give a testimony into purchasing 49% of stakes of the Erdenet Mining Corporation, Mongolnow reported. Invitation was made after a witness testimonyagainst him and then-Speaker of the Parliament Zandaakhüügiin Enkhbold was handed over to the anti-corruption service of the country on June 26.
After having given a testimony in the anti-corruption service, Enkhbold posted a video material on Facebook.
Enkhbold in video says that Ex-Prime Minister Chimediin Saikhanbileg in his testimony declared that he (when Speaker of the Parliament) and ex-president Elbegdorj were familiar while purchasing 49% of stakes of the Erdenet Mining Corporation.
"By doing this, Saikhanbileg involved me in his wrongdoings on abusing rank," Enkhbold said and rejected accusations against him.
"That's not true," he said.
The Head of President's Office noted that he gave testimony, where he rejected the testimony of ex PM and left the building of the anti-corruption service.
Enkhbold accused Saikhanbileg of abusing power in this case. Purchasing stakes of the company should have been done by then Parliament, he said.
