Bishkek, July 12, 2019. /Kabar/. A Regional Forum-Meeting of Heads of Emergency Authorities of Central Asian countries was held in Bishkek in the framework of the Dialogue Central Asia plus Japan to discuss, agree and take decisions, aimed at further improving cooperation in the field of disaster risk reduction and response to potential large-scale and cross-border emergencies.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Emergency Ministry reported that, the Forum participants have discussed and agreed upon the following issues:
- Creation and organization of activity of the Regional Scientific and Technical Council on Emergency Situations.
- Formation of a regional register of experts in the field of Civil protection/defense, disaster risk reduction, prevention and elimination of emergency situations.
- Formation of a regional register of Central Asian countries' forces and resources for conducting rescue operations in their territories in case of emergency.
- Implementation of Regional disaster risk management programs and projects in Central Asia, funded by donor agencies and international organizations.
- Action Plan (Road Map) for the implementation of the Framework for strengthening regional cooperation of Central Asian countries in disaster risk reduction, prevention and response for 2019-2021.
Following the results of the Forum, the participants approved and signed the final protocol of the Regional Forum-Meeting of Heads of Emergency Authorities of Central Asian countries.
Heads of emergency authorities of Central Asian states-Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, diplomatic corps, public and international organizations of Central Asian countries and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan took part in the Regional Forum.
