Ex-President Atambayev suggests he may leave Kyrgyzstan on July 24

AKIPRESS.COM - Ex-President Almazbek Atambayev told reporters yesterday he might fly on Wednesday. When asked where he will fly to, Atambayev said the host side will decide that.
"It is likely that I fly on Wednesday. From what place and how and at what time, the host side will decide," he said.
When asked how long his trip will last, Atambayev said 2-3 days.
Atambayev was summoned for questioning for July 19 for the third time. All three summons were ignored by him. His attorney Sergei Slesarev said ex-President Atambayev still has immunity for prosecution and can be summoned for questioning in any capacity.
The interrogation is linked to the case of illegal freeing of crime boss Aziz Batukayev from prison.
On June 27, Parliament of Kyrgyzstan voted for stripping Almazbek Atambayev of his immunity.
Atambayev was accused of illegal freeing of crime boss Aziz Batukayev from prison, concealment of income, illegal land purchase, corruption in the modernization of the Bishkek power plant and the illegal supply of coal to the power plant. The General Prosecutor's office backed the accusations partially.
Atambayev slammed the parliament and said accusations against him are "completely absurd, have no legal ground and are based on rumors." He said he will resist his arrest.
