Bishkek, July 26, 2019. /Kabar/. Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov and Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a joint meeting with the population of the border areas at the crossroads of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border between the Aksai village of Batken region and Tojikon village of Vorukh of Isfara city.
The Presidents introduced the members of official delegations, the press service of the Kyrgyz President reported.
During the meeting with the local residents, the heads of the two states noted the importance of preserving peace and harmony, centuries-old friendship between the peoples, noted the readiness of the parties to take measures to eliminate all the existing difficulties at the border.
Jeenbekov noted that Kyrgyzstan cherishes brotherly relations with Tajikistan.
"We are well aware of the living conditions of our peoples in the border areas and unresolved issues and intend to do everything possible to ensure that local residents do not experience problems. Together we intend to solve all the issues. We want to make our borders the gates of peace, friendship and good neighborliness," Jeenbekov emphasized, proposing to activate the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on the delimitation of the border.
Then the leaders went to the city of Isfara of the Republic of Tajikistan to continue negotiations.
Jeenbekov and Rahmon will discuss all issues of bilateral cooperation, including the demarcation and delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.
Negotiations between the two heads of state will continue tomorrow, July 27, in Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul Oblast, Kyrgyzstan.
