Head of SCNS: Special forces did not expect armed resistance from Atambayev

Almazbek Atambaev did not comply with legal requirements and hid in his house. Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan Orozbek Opumbayev told today at a parliament meeting.
According to him, supporters put up armed resistance, which the special forces did not expect.
"Today it's not a house, but a fortress, a bunker. Unfortunately, this is so. I have all the photos, if necessary, I can publish them on the Internet. His (Almazbek Atambayev's - Note of 24.kg news agency) supporters put up armed resistance with the use of firearms, stones, sticks, bars. This was not a military operation, but a forced bringing to the investigating authority according to the decision of the investigator. Therefore, the special forces were not armed with other weapons. They did not expect this from the civilians, especially from Atambayev," said Orozbek Opumbayev.
It is worth noting that the former president Almazbek Atambayev himself has repeatedly stated that he had weapons and was ready to defend himself if someone comes to detain him.
Yesterday night, special forces of the SCNS attempted to detain the former president of the country Almazbek Atambayev in Koi-Tash village. However, the storm failed. Atambayev's supporters did not let the special forces into the house of the former head of state. During the second detention attempt, riots broke out. Nearly 50 people were taken to hospitals in Bishkek and Chui region. One serviceman of the SCNS Special Forces received a gunshot wound. He died in a hospital. The head of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Chui region was broken his head. He's in a coma. Criminal cases were opened after riots in Koi-Tash.
