President Tokayev meets with EU Representative for Central Asia

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the EU Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian, he wrote on Twitter, Sputnik Kazakhstan says. "I received the EU Special Representative for Central Aisa Peter Burian. We discussed further cooperation in the framework of the new strategy of the EU on Central Asia. The new leadership of the EU confirmed its interest in strengthening strategic partnership with Kazakhstan," Tokayev noted.
The head of state in July sent a congratulatory telegram to Charles Michel in connection with his election as Chairman of the European Union. The President also congratulated Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen on her election as President of the European Commission.
This June the EU approved the new stratefy of development with Central Asia. EU believes that the new opportunities appeared in Central Asia and cooperation with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan is important. The strategy also envisages strengthening of ties for contribution to the peace in Afghanistan.
