Bishkek city court upholds Almazbek Atambayev's arrest until August 26

AKIPRESS.COM - Bishkek city court upheld ex-President Almazbek Atambayev's arrest until August 26, attorney Sergei Slesarev said.
The court proceeding was held inside the National Security Committee building behind closed doors.
Atambayev was arrested on August 8 during the storming of his home in Koi-Tash.
The Prosecutor General's Office said that Atambayev is suspected of the following crimes: use of violence against law enforcement officials; organizing mass riots; organization of the murder; organizing attempted murder; organizing hostage-taking.
On August 14, the Military Prosecutor's Office brought charges against Atambayev on two more counts related to transfer of ownership of the Forum building and modernization of the Bishkek CHPP.
GKNB head Orozbek Opumbayev accused Atambayev of coup attempt.
