AKIPRESS.COM - The Yr-Kese contest kicked off in Jalal-Abad, where the representatives of the Uyghur diaspora have shown their talents, Turmush reports. According to the organizers, this contest is held in honor of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the state language status.
"The event was organized among the regional cultural centers of the Assembly of the Peoples of Kyrgyzstan in order to strengthen interethnic friendship. The event is being held by the "Itipak" Uyghur association.
Contestants sing Kyrgyz national songs, dance, demonstrated the culture of the Kyrgyz people. The results of the competition will be announced at the end of September," says the representative of the Assembly of the Peoples of Kyrgyzstan in the Jalal-Abad region Kanybek Tilekeyev.
According to the deputy governor of the Jalal-Abad region Yrysbek Yzabekov, similar events are held in other towns and regions.
About 8,000 Uyghurs live in the Jalal-Abad region.
