AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan is gradually refusing from plastic bags, the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and the Natural Resources reported.
The country plans to make the plastic bags paid to reduce the environmental damage.
Minister Magzum Mirzagaliyev said that the shops in the country will sell the plastic bags to sellers instead of giving them for free as it is practiced now.
"The world practice shows that this approach might reduce usage of plastic bags by 30%. Now the daily trade of plastic bags in the country makes 15 million units," Mirzagaliyev noted.
A gradual withdrawal of plastic bags can lead to refusal of free sale of plastic bags, introduction of more obligations of producers and importers of plastic bags, launch of a full ban for sale of plastic bags from 2025, according to him.
"Refusal from plastic bags is aimed at protection of the environment. We hope that the networks of shops will join our campaign," the Minister noted.
