Children's Ombudsperson briefs Tokayev on problems of premature born children

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Ombudsperson of the Children's Rights Aruzhan Sain, Akorda reported.
During the talks, Sain told about health and social protection of children and fighting violence against them.
The Ombudsperson touched the issue of newnorn children suffering retinopathy of prematurity, which leads to loss of vision. In average, about 20,000 premature born children, including 4,000 with extremely low body weight, are in Kazakhstan.
According to her, to fight this problem, organization of effective eye care on the basis of the perinatal centers and birthing homes is needed in the regions. Improving the skills of specialists is also important, she added.
The head of state promised to always take this issue into special consideration.
