AKIPRESS.COM - Employees of the department of preserving biodiversity and specially protected natural territories of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry of Kyrgyzstan detained a poacher with a killed Marco Polo, the Agency said.
The man was detained on the territory of the hunting area of the JSC Ala-Too Adventure Tour in Jeti-Oguz district of Issyk-Kul region.
The hunter is a local resident, who attempted to threaten the environmentalists to shoot at them, if they take photos of him.
Before arrival of the mobile group, the poacher could fled the site with the illegally killed animal.
After employees of the Agency appealed to police, the poacher was detained and fined 1 million som for illegal killing of the endangered animal.
The man will also be prosecuted for resistance, threat and illegal detention of the employee for more than 3 hours by threatening.
